About Allied Waste Services of Minnesota
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide industry-leading solid waste and environmental services that exceed our customers’ highest expectations. We offer a safe, respectful and rewarding workplace for our employees as we continue to develop a company dedicated to excellence, environmental responsibility, ethical behavior and increasing shareholder value.
Allied Waste of Minnesota is proud of our rich, vibrant, 62-year local history of keeping Minnesota clean. It started back in 1948 in Eden Prairie as Woodlake Sanitation, with one truck and the vision of always exceeding customer expectations. Woodlake Sanitation continued to grow and decided to team with Browning Ferris Industries (BFI) in the early 1970’s.
In 1999 Allied Waste Industries, Inc. purchased BFI moving it from the 4th largest US waste services provider to 2nd. BFI became a wholly owned subsidiary of Allied Waste.
On December 5, 2008, Allied Waste completed a merger with Republic Services, Inc. The merger brought together two mature companies with similar business practices and performance metrics that have been developed and refined over the course of a number of years. Our merger gives us a unique opportunity to combine the strengths of these two successfully organizations and create a best-in-class waste company.
Allied Waste of Minnesota is committed to providing excellent service to all our customers. We have been serving our communities with local pride and ingenuity for decades. Regardless of our size, we are and always will be a local business. More than half of our operating management team consists of former owners and second/third-generation industry professionals. We are your neighbors, friends, and family. We are committed to exemplary customer service and efficient, innovative solutions that respect and safeguard Minnesota’s public health and natural resources. We help our team succeed by providing company-wide resources, including technical support, best practices, safety training, and direction in regulated areas.
Our commitment to Minnesota’s environment is unwavering. We are the only Twin Cities waste services company to own and operate two recycling facilities.
